    Saw this on the news last night, the blokes walked in, nicked them in broad daylight with an armed guard 10 ft away then chucked them in the back of an Audi estate. Some photos were caught by a tourist of the chaps, in balacavers(sp!) loading the stolen paintings.

    :clap::clap::clap: their audacity!

    No-one will buy it - it probably for some russian mobsters private collection or the news reckon'd it might be used as a bargaining tool to get some drug smugglers sentances reduced!

    i think it's great. Pink Panther style theft. I'm not promoting theft of any kind and realise the implications of organised crime and it's effects on society. But having the nuts to nick one of the worlds most well know paintings is great. Stick it to those snobby gallery elitests.

    Galleries and Museums all claim to have sole right to these types of paintings and antiques - they OWN them, but let us have a look at them - as long as we don't touch. i hate galleries like that. it's the same with the British Museum, in the late 19th century they raided the tombs of egypt and shipped eveything back here and to New York. Now Egypt is trying to get it's history back but because of greed none of the establishments want to give any of it up. i think it's disgusting. It's their heritage and we have no rights to it.

    one up for the common man.

    i have no idea what this has to do with the nicked painting, i just went off on a bit of a tagent.

    Great story though - you gotta hand it to anyone who can pinch something thats so high profile in such a straight forward manner.

    I hope they look after the painting mind - I love it! :)
