Yeah (and number 3), it gets better, try not to compare it to BoB tho as the prep time for the first aerial assault on to Normandy/France was a lot longer than the retaliation to pearl harbour where they basically jumped in head first, it took them 6months till coral and midway which were classed as turning points. So in the later episodes you get the character development which was given first in BoB due to the boot camp stuff. Will comment on the 4th episode when I watch it tonight.
watched the first 2 episodes yesterday. Not as good as BOB obviously, but i'd defo say its one to watch.
There are a few episodes to pad it out but it's based on some books so it's sticking true to the story line. People forget there was very little action in the bootcamp episode of Band Of Brothers and alot of the getting to know the people was in them episodes where this is a different slant. There, isn't too much that happens in episodes 3-5 but thats due to a different side of the war. Apparently alot lof the money and budget has gone into the 3 major battles that took place in the Pacific and none of them have been aired yet. Parts 6-9 are the battles at Peleliu, Iwo Jima and Okinawa. Episode 6 has loads of action when they are trying to take and get across Peleliu. Some of the shots of the action when mortars are landing and showing people dying and injured are totally epic. It was never going to better BOB but it's still a cracking show that does well to show the other side of the WWII
"the other side of ww2" ?? haha we all know that the brave americans saved the world and won the woman for fucks sake the otherside of ww2 would be a show showing russian or german lifes. iv been massivly let down by this so far and i doubt it can pull itself of of the nosedive. i cant believe ep4 was about a soldier pissing his pants. hanks and speil need to take a look in the mirror! WWII LOST FILMS on History every night this week is a million times better
if they put another bit in where a US soldier finds a jap wallet or a photo or a lovely looking jap wife FOR FUKES SAKE. Keep on trying to show that the Americans respected and thought of their enemys as level hman beings? did they fuck they fucking hated the "yellow skined devils" they wouldnt even buy japanese cars until 1980 for fucks sake. ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRG
Finshed watching Band of Brothers last night. Absolutely awesome. Good 9/10 for me. Gets you up for watching The Pacific but sounds like it's not worth bothering from the write up it's got on here.
