    Speculation

been on the receiving end of some pretty bad speculation regarding a fairly open comment which has since been deleted from the board.

Essentially, my point was simply that I just wish people in this city would stop slagging off other people and events, often for no other reason than they don't like the music on offer. This isn't directed at specific people, it's a general trait which I've noticed is on the rise up here.

If only people would support each other a bit more, it's all I've ever tried to do, albeit via my very limited means.

Was speaking to a pretty well known DJ from up here who was slagged off to his face by a local promoter, basically because he didn't like what he played. The DJ in question was incredibly upset. For what reason was it necessary for him to come out with the comments he did? It was just unconstructive and nasty. It's such a fucking waste of energy.

    Re: Speculation

This isn't just something that happens in the north east nor is it something that is only related to clubbing, we just seem to need to have a go at people! Look at the papers, the amount of grief our TOP sports people get is shocking, we should be supporting them but instead we put them down!

well simon, i totally agree with what you say... even ive had some of the backlash and lack of support happen to me... and now im just sitting back and watching how the scene goes, then pick the right time to make my move...

sounds like a bloody game of chess!

saturated dj and promoter market = local scene split into many groups each supporting their own = small numbers at each event.

woah slow down einstien ;) :p

Its the petty school ground mentality of the industry that makes me laugh, competition is healthy but the way some nights handle competition is a fucking joke... like southern promoters beating up rival flyerers and shit.

Its the most unprofesional, unorganised industry I've ever encountered.

When you compare it to other music industries its also a joke - very few promoters are in it for the music, they're in it for themselves.... which is understandable when some of the music in question is trance and hard house ;) :p

Same here. Joe only touched on one element there. This is my perception of the scene & makes me very angry. I only want to work with & for those who actually care about what they're doing in the scene. Too many in it for the money.

the Newcastle scene seems a bit dead and stale, with the same people doing to same nights, and the same crowd attending.
We are up in Glasgow, and its all fresh, new and buzzing. Lots of nice people who are willing to help, and who are full of new ideas and support.....

    no....its very different.

the people are much more passionate about the club scene. its 10x more lively, sooo much more to do in the city at night. its excellent.
    excellent licencing laws too.
last night is a good example, loads of places were still open and buzzing at 4.30.
