I think its ridiculous, some of those dogs were born as dogs which are made to kill or protect they shouldnt be around kids!

The dogs arent to blame really, you cant exactly sit down and tell them what to do and what not to do.

I feel really sorry and I think its absolutely awful for the people with kids when something like that has happened.

But I think its all just esculated a bit far now.

Both. I think some breeds of dog should be banned as pets or you should have to have a licence to have one.

Aye. Certain breeds have been bred over thousands of generations to be vicious, just like others are bred to be good workers or good pets. The government won't let me have a Puma as a pet, I don't see why people should be allowed certain dogs.

DON'T GET ME STARTED WITH THIS!!!!

I am fuming with some people......any dog can be vicious and attack people or other dogs, it's total nonsense that people say all dogs of that type are potentially dangerous and should be killed.

It's the fucking owners who are to blame for these dogs biting people or even killing people. They have brought that dog up in that way and therefore they should be held responsible as well!!!

These dogs get put down, then what happens to the owner? Thry go out and buy another dog, treat it like shit and torment it so that its vicious!!!

I own a very beautiful staffy and she is the most placid dog ever, she loves everyone especially kids and her best friend is a guinea pig!!! They have such a bad name cos all these charva's go out and buy them and bring them up to be HARD AS NAILS....when it's in they're natural nature to be nan dogs and were originally bred to look after children in nurseries!!!!

It makes me sick when people are like oh put them all down cos they're obviously bred to be violent! BOILS MY FUCKING PISS!

A bloke on the news the other night from the Kennel Club was saying he was violently attacked by a labrador or something once, therefore should we put down all labradors?

People should be licenced to own dogs and should be vetted before they can own a dog!

    Look at this beautiful staffy......:)

BUT IT'S NOT THE DOGS FAULT IT'S VICIOUS, IT'S THE OWNERS FOR MAKING IT THAT WAY.....

If you dont bring a dog up to be vicious then it wont be!

My staffy is lush she's the nicest dog ever and wouldnt hurt a fly, but they have bad press because some people get them for the wrong reason.

it's an isolated case but a pomeranian killed a child in america, now if any of you knew this dog you'll laugh....but it did....does that mean they should all be killed?

Really you shouldnt have started this thread cos this is a subject i am very passionate about and some peoples attitudes really wind me up.

Snakes kill people but people are still allowed to own them irresonsibly and no-one bats an eyelid at them!

To a certain extent it is, but these dogs have been bred to be like that for hundreds of years, it's in there genes to be that way.

Aye, but you don't let ya pet snake go outside or you don't take it for walkies. Plus, they remove the venom. I'm sure a constrictor snake could kill a child by wrapping itself around them but howay, this isn't going to happen.

75% owner if not more. There is only so much training the owner can give the dog but genetically some breeds will be/are prone to violence for whatever reasons. I think all dog owners should need a license regardless of breed.

Saying that though, a responsible owner would never let their dog be in a situation to harm

Some dogs are genetically set up to be bad asses - no matter how 'lovely' their owners say they are.

Jack Russels are proper vicious little fuckers - but you dont see many of them on the news for losing it and killing kids.

Any animal can be raised to be nice, or vicious - but thats a bit like saying we should sell knives to kids because they might want them to whittle wood with, and not stick them in other kids.

Really i promise you, apart from very isolated cases.....it is the owners fault. Unless something has changed in a dogs life that has caused it to turn vicious for some apart unknown reason which is very very rare then the owner has brought that dog up to be that way.

If they know their dog could potentially be dangerous then they should take the appropriate actions to make sure it cant harm i.e.make it wear a muzzel etc.

A dog might snap no matte rhow nice it is, unfortunately staffies are made to be killing machines. So if one of these attacks it's not gonna be a pretty sight.

I've had 3 dogs in my lifetime, 2 boys and a girl and when someone has met them they would always ask 'what's she called?', regardless of wether it was a boy or a girl

If i was a male dog that would really fuck me off and id probs end up biting someone after a while.

Lulu, if it's not in their genes, and it's the owners' fault really, why have some breeds been made illegal?
