Should I buy some decks or not?

Right, I've never even touched a set of turntables before but I really want to get into mixing nd whatnot. I was going to buy some with my birthday money but that soon got stolen by bottles of broon and tickets to tall trees and promise. I had a quick (not too quick) look on the internet for a set that would be a good starting point and the str8-80's seemed like a decent choice. A few people who already dj a little told me to go for the str8-150's but I know what people are like. They'll tell me to get whichever ones they have or whichever ones they'd like to have with no regard to price etc.

I'd be mixing trance of different kinds and some hard house. I'm not loaded and I'm completely new to this. What kinda setup would u recommend for me as a good starting point?

I'm skint atm so I'd have to save the money up. About £250 for 2 turntables would probably be as far as I'd get before more bottles of broon came trotting along.

Cheers in advance. - ps. And which mixer and other little gadgets would be good?:spangled:

if i was starting now, i'd be going for CDJs and digital equipment rather than vinyl decks...

CD Decks all the way ... or good solid vinyl ones.

Ive blown 600 quid before on an average setup that was only fit for the bin after a year.... dont buy crap - you'll regret it.

this fells knows the score...for about 900 you can get a great vinyl setup that will hold it value much better than an average one for 600 so if you decide its not for you the money you lose on selling them wont be as much

    1) Some people might only want to do it for fun - don't knock the cheaper equipment

    2) Not everyone can splash out 7-800 quid on dj equipment...

    3) Vestax looks like Fisher Price toys :p

I started off with a Numark DJ in a box for about £300, 2 x decks, mixer and 2 x powered speakers a few years ago. Then made the step up to Technics once i REALLY got into it!

Just buy cheapies for now to learn on, CDJ's are a good idea too!

According to last months iDJ, CD Decks are now ahead of traditional turntables in terms of sales or something.

    Embrace the future Jase :D
