Royal Mail bosses have hired a dyslexic postman

Jason Johnson sees door numbers the opposite way round.

He tried to hide his condition when he applied for the job - but delivery office staff quickly spotted he was struggling.

According to The Sun he said: "I can read okay but I have trouble with numbers. Sometimes I get them the wrong way round. I find it hard, but it's the only job I have got to fall back on."

Royal Mail chiefs have vowed to stand by Jason and give him help to make sure he succeeds.

New postmen normally cover other routes on posties' days off, which involves delivering to different addresses daily.

But Jason has been handed a regular route in Blackheath, South East London.

He added: "They are giving me help. I'm on the same walk every day so I can get used to the numbers and the names."

However, another postman said: "It's not his fault he is dyslexic but he should not be delivering letters if he can't read properly.

"People need their post delivered on time - and they have a right to expect their postman can read their addresses without any problems."

A Royal Mail spokesman said: "Royal Mail employs only people with the ability to do the job. We have tests and there are basic requirements applicants have to meet before they will be employed."

What you's about man? So what if has dyslexia?? what does that make him? thick?
As if!! I work with dylsexic children everyday, they can read competently, it just takes them longer to decode the meanings of the word.

why the hell should some one like that not deliver your post to the right address?

yeah but at the same time a guy who can't tell the differance between 24 and 42 shouldn't be posting letters as post is very important, would you have a blind man flying a plane?
its just commen sense there must be other jobs he can do :)

fair play but a blind man fling a plane is slightly more drastic, if hes getting help with it it shouldnt matter, it may even help him

if hes gettin the numbers the wrong way round then he surely shouldnt be able to do this job. peopels post is important. the royal mail is a complete balls up to start with, never mind hiring dyslexic posties.

yes i know, but my main point was its pretty daft relying on a bloke to deliver people mail, mail which include stuff like bills which are also very important, when he can't make out numbers. :)

this whole pc bollox amuses me, he lied and faked his way through the tests, the test are in place to find out if people have any problems, hes admitted he gets them wrong, he should not be in his job, the dwp should help him into another job not involving numbers.
