Royal Family Are the royal family out of touch? Prince Charles has been criticised recently for his comments on education plans... does he have a point or does he have outdated morals and views? Personally I think the royal family are harmless and I dont want to see them go, but im not sure what service they provide anymore, apart from being a major tourist attraction. Still the french dont have one!
relating to the racism thread where joe was proud of his heritage, its the same when it comes to the royal family with me. dont agree with a lot of the way they go on atm, but william and harry are showin some promise espacially harry (know wo' a meen) pothead. :chill:
They dont really do much anymore do they?? :think: They all seem to be trying to make their lives as "normal" as poss too, so maybe arent even gonna be so prominent in the future. Saying that, they do raise alot of cash/awareness for charities and that, so do some good Im not really too bothered. I could see their money being spent on much more useful things but I cant see them vanishing anytime soon.

Surely thats more to do with Buckingham Palace and the Crown Jewels etc tho isnt it? :spangled: I mean tourists dont travel miles to stand and watch the royal family like in a zoo
True in a way, but would they mean as much if there were no royal family anymore? Most people couldnt name many french royal buildings/attractions because ya dont associate them with royalty anymore since the revolution wiped em all out. There are loads of naive yanks that think going to certain places in london means ya will see the royals walking around tho! Also for some people, it does add some romantacism to royal tourist sites when ya realise that its not all ancient history... plus we have the most famous and prestigious royal family in the world, that counts for something.
I would rather the £36million or whatever of our tax money that goes to the Royal family every year was spent elsewhere. I don't really feel they serve a huge purpose in todays society. I wonder if things will change when William takes over the throne (if ever!)...however I doubt it...
