I wasn't that impressed with his last set at promise, however on his cancelation matt hardwick played an absoloute blinder, one of my best ever sets.

I'm not that bothered if he's not booked again.

last time he was at promise he was great but not amazing, (his cancelation wen hardwick played was wicked) i think its coz it was just the fact that PAUL VAN DYK was standing in front of me!
would still love to see him again tho!!!

...PvD's 6 hour sets at crasha are the stuff of leg-ends!! in days to come mental old folk will ramble on about when he played born slippy. or the ashtrax mix of 4an angel.

and as for the time he was lobbing out posters, it was much better in my day let me tell you sunny jim. and we got value for money too in my day, he played til 7 oclock you know. etc etc.

let no man slag off PvD, diss oakey tho coz he's shite.

Couldn't agree more Mr. Business.....PvD is going to be a legend, if he isn't already!!! Not missed a 6 hourer since November '99 and can't wait for the next one, if there is going to be one (hope there is!!) Your right about the choons aswell...his own mix of Born Slippy...FOOK ME!!! Especially remember last Feb which wasn't his best set when he played Jose Amnesia second from last....UNREAL!!!

As for Oakey he isn't shite....but should remember his roots more and play in his own country more often...next he'll be applying for US citizenship!!! :(

its funny u talk about oakey and PVD together cos in my opinion both are relying on thier past successes...ive seen oakey a few times and each time he has, to be honest, bored me with his choice of 'cool' tunes...i do think the bloke has talent but compared to how he used to play to what hev plays like now he aint anything special.

same goes for PVD...seen him play some fantastic sets yet his 6 hour set at crasher last dec was dull and seemed to be full of filler tunes...i wasnt the only one who was bored either...however in my opinion 6 hour sets kill any djs and maybe he aint lost it just on that occasion he wernt so good

does pvd stand for paul van dyke by any chance? before i make a fool out of myself! :)

I couldn't stay out of this one any longer.....

Paul Van Dyk is a genius.

He is a music producer first, a Disc Jockey second.

He is already a legend & has left his mark on Electronic music forever, no one can deny that.

He and Oaky did more fore trance than anyone else in the DJ world.

Without Paul Van Dyk, Gatecrasher wouldn't have gone off like a Bomb in 1997-8. (since he lost interest in the club it has nose-dived, coincidence???)

He creates music and as a artist and DJ is always evolving....as do his sets.

He has used Gatecrasher to test out new styles and new records in his recent 6 hrs sets. Some people hated this (Esp. his total Prog set 2 or 3 times ago) but I took it as a MASSIVE complement to the club and clubbers.

For anyone to say PVD or Oaky are crap or dis their sets just makes that person look incredible stupid and kind of highlights how little they know about & appreciate real electronic music and art.

..........It amused me even further when some of the people who dis PVD ...... will be turning up 30 mins early to see Eddie Halliwell on Friday. *chuckles* I don't even have to explain that one. (your not THAT thick).

Any Tom, Dick or Eddie can go out any play every bangin' hard tune in the box.............but you could count on one hand how many that can do what Van Dyk can do with set.

true they've both done massive amounts for dance music and some of PVD's own work is fantastic but in my opinion they are not a patch on what they used to be

PVDs last 6 hour set at crasher was nothing compared to some of the sets ive heard him play previously and for a long time now oakey's set's have never lived up to his previous greatness

the reason i'll be at promise "30 mins earlier" this friday is because for me, halliwell is new, exciting, fresh and plays the style of tunes which at the moment i like and in my opinion his technical skills are superb. I know everyone gives him grief for his scratching now but remember when u first heard the Bosh cd. Tell me u wernt impressed? Give the bloke time and i bet he does as much for dance music as PVD and Oakey.
