    Hi Guys,

About to take the step into learning to produce. Based on your experiences what would you reccomend...Ableton or Logic? I just can't decide.

    I'm on a Mac ;-)

Any responses would be much appreciated,

    Cheers.

For me its Ableton all the way. I tried Logic first too and just found it hard to understand but the Ableton interface just clicks for me, personally I find it much easier to understand and operate. I guess everyone is different though and its down to your own preference at the end of the day.

always best to see if you can sample both before choosing. Surely you'll be able to find a demo of each somewhere? :)

how about cubase ? i use a mac and use cubase , basicaly cos i had a shity pc when i started out.. logic runs hand in hand with a mac but cubase shouldnt be overlooked , easy to use .

i only use it for midi sqeuncing and a little audio recording so all those fancy features people love i dont even touch :)

u can get logic demo and abelton from there sites , same as cubase

    Hi Guys,

Thanks for the responses. After a little more research and some sound advice I decided to opt for Logic pro which i'll be taking delivery of tomorrow, at which point i'm sure my life as I know it ends for the forseeable future as I bury myself into tutorials and text books :-S

    Cheers again ;-)

Had you used either? Never understand people paying for software. Just download both and see which is best.

There is a trial version of ableton available via the net which is time-limited for 30 days.

I've used it to get to grips with using my HS5500 as a MIDI controller, worth going for if you want to dip in and see what it's like.

That's what I've got. Then you just remove the 30 day limit with a registry crack.

You're allowed to steal software, always have been.

There's a demo for Ableton but not one for Logic... I was given advice by a couple of people that have used both which ultimately swayed my decision towards Logic, which I have now purchased and installed.

I'm a complete newbie at all of this so whichever I chose I would have had to learn from scratch anyway so in that respect it wouldn't have mattered. It was more the best overall package I was interested in, which being a mac user and quicjkly browsing the software last night I believe I have chosen the best for me [IMG]

One thing I will say to anybody thinking of buying Logic..... Make sure you have enough disk space... It has an overall install size of 52.2gb [IMG]

Rossi..... I hear you re software but trust me, it doesn't always turn out as rosie and simple as it may first seem [IMG]
