    Rik Parkinson

Rik’s style can only be described as HOUSE. From huge sun drenched vocals to fat acid electronic bass lines his creatively style works well with a fusion of live EFX madness and CDJ pleasure. His imaginative sets are formed through a clever use of looped accapellas, beats, riffs and home grown hooks that entice people into his journey of makeshift beats and reformed music. Just watching Rik behind the decks is a guaranteed delight on its own, switching from CDJ to EFX units furiously, filtering down to low-end frequencies and enticing the live elements to take control and actually create house music live. With his production skills at heart there will be a new surprise every time, from his own fabrications to re-worked tracks building and building to lure a dance floor into a climax.

To mention but a few dates Rik has appeared alongside some of the industries finest and freshest up and coming talents. The infamous “Idyllic” in Rik’s hometown of Chorley saw him beside the likes of the Audiowhores and Russ Marland from the legendary Out in the Sticks, slowing working sets to make way for figures that he inspires musically and technically. From House to Hip Hop Rik has hosted the backroom soulful sounds for the likes of mainstream icons such as Radio Ones Tim Westwood. Locally Rik has provided the soundtrack for many of its late night bars and nightspots, such as BRB, Revolution, Fat Cat, Dr Whus and Lux to name but a small number. On the club scene Rik has enjoyed the delights such as the notorious Vivarium leading him to the Warehouse, Peep House, Stylus and Digby’s of York Place.

The main reason for Rik’s passionate enthusiasm and young success has come to him from his home breed production talent. Under the name of Jazz Sensation Rik has seen some serious backing from the likes of G-Club, Paul Farris and Defected. Boasting plays from the likes of Café Mambo, Pioneers Pro DJ’s and receiving radio play over Ministry of Sound Radio, Galaxy, Radio Aire and Radio 1. This wealth and passion for the scene also led to his first release being signed to the renowned Sounds like Soul, with his first remix from one half of the Audiowhores, Graham Lord (Word of Mouth). Of the back of this release Rik has recently been signed to Soul Purpose Records working with “House Music’s man of the moment” Martin Ikin.

From this success Rik started work for the Industry renowned Pioneer Pro DJ, with the role of introducing and demonstrating new products across the UK. With these fresh and new contacts being made in the Industry Rik has worked and shared his skills with such artist as Steve Lawler, X Press 2. Grant Nelson, Demi, Desi, DJ Yoda and Bobby and Steve to name a select few. With these artists backing Rik he has taken the industry head on leaving the soulful side of his production Jazz Sensation and turning to the dark side both in the studio and on the dance floor under Rik Parkinson.
