New Credit Card System Coming Soon

    On a lighter note,

Just been on the news that our present credit card system - of signing for purchases - is to be phased out.

In place you will be given a four digit pin that you key in with your card at point of purchase.

This should reduce fraud straight off by up to %60.

I've not been ripped off this way but imagine it's a total shitter.:(

Good news for consumers - why was this not introduced ages ago one might ask?

tis good tho, but remembering pin numbers sometimes creates confusion, imagine sitting at the check out.

" no , erm wait a minute try this one."

i do it with my cash card, i could see it happening there to:(

i can sign his sig better than he can :p

it looks surprisinly similar to mine, cos one day when he was gonna open his bank account he decided he needed a sig, so i did one, and he practised :)

mines an H and a squiggle crossed threw the T and H, his is a M and a squiggle :)

martin made a good point earlier when we saw this on the news, he said it shud be dun by thumbprint recognition...that wud b kinda impossible to fraud..but maybe hard to do.

    sounds very gud idea like.

cos lets face it a good 80% of places dont give a shit what the sig looks like!!!!!!

this way they HAVE to check - else u cant use the system - can only be good.

Its gona be a total nitemare!!

If you cant remember ur pin, then ur pretty fucked cos the retailer could lose out money if they accept ur sig only. If u disable ur pin, its a rite f*ck on to re-activate it at the cash point. Sum peeps are jus thick as shit and wont be able to do it. :dunce: Plus, u dont type ur pin in on the net or over the fone which is where the majority of card fraud is easily done. Im sooo glad I dont work at the bank anymore. I cudnt be arsed to explain it all to ppl who dont even know how to read their balances rite. :p

Only a very slight improvement in security in my opinion.

I imagine loads of people will now get into the habit of giving partners/friends there code so they can use their card.....

Thumb scan is the way forward. Look how well it has worked at rounding up the Illegal Immigrant in the capital.

Biometrics are so easy to fake. I read an article about how easy it is to fool the systems, this company tricked a thumbprint reader with some sticky tape and flour and faked a retinal scan with a photo of the persons eye printed on a normal inkjet printer.
