Labour Government on its way down?

Anyone been following the local council elections?

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/4969812.stm

If there was a national election based on the results, 40% of the voters would have voted conservative - but only 26% of them would have voted labour.

Looks like the tide is changing again - Its a shame, Tony always did seem like a nice chap for the first year of government or so.

    Interesting times ahead.

I'm not sure if I would fully put my trust in any party to run this country. No matter how much they say they're going to change the country and it's problems, once their in they never stick to their word (the majority of the time).

Although I didn't even bother to vote last time round, therefore I can't complain at the moment.

Re: Labour Government on its way down?

In the North East Labour have still taken the majority. Apart from two Countys/Regions (Which were Lib Dem) the bad press that Labour have received over the last 9 days hasn't seemed to have a detrimental effect on them at all.*

During the Iraq invasion a lot of voters swayed towards the Lib Dems in a lot of parts of the country, now the local elections in these parts are saying Conservative. Negative press has a short term effect on party's support but, in the long run, Labour will probs win them back with lies  *

*Right, that's enough sensible talk for one day ;)

    To true!

politicians in this country and america have become to much like celebreties ! they seem to swan around trying to woo the common people and like celebs they rise and then they fall . Scandal has been all over this labour government since the iraq war .... Weve had blair joining burlusconi in random milonare locations to talk about er politics of course , can you remeber when prescot thumped that bloke who throiugh an egg at him  . Theres been prozyz , coke taking and adultery and of course the side plot of blairs ongoing infatuation with the pea brained bush !

Governmet pah its like a fucking soap opera ! Vote for those fuckers ... Id sooner shave me balls with a sander !

That's because of the way the media portray them. The amount of column inches focused on their private lives now proves that that's more important to a journalist than anything remotely linked to politics.

So fuck if they, for example, shagged a prostitute while snorting coke off a rent boy's knob* - if they set out to do what's right for the country, and then actually get it right, then fair play let them get on with it. As long as it doesn't effect their professional life I don't care what goes on in their private life! As long as they sort the state of this country out - Then that's good enough for me  ;)

*Ok, so that's a bit extreme - but you get the point.

I know mate. I was just implying that the media has made them "celebrities" - But, even if they're not doing the right things in their professional life. I don't really give a fuck what they do out of work.

I bet the people that write these stories are just as bad, if not worse, behind closed doors.
