    Exercises

Just wondering if anyone knows what type of exercises and stretches are good for toning back into shape quick???

Before any of you pervs start saying sex its a serious question.

I used to be a sprots freak and then had two years out of doing much in the way of sport due to joints etc.

I'm running race for life in 5 weeks and want to get ship shape soon. I'm going to start jogging but what else has quite quick effect. Legs need sorting mainly! :D :D

I would say running or maybe swimming would be the best if you wanted to get back in to shape?

ok cool, i used to be a big swimmer so that'd be good to get back into. I'm trying to get into the cross trainer, really enjoy it but have quite a low attention span on it. Is it best to have quite high ish resistance?

Yoga to strengthen up and get yourself stretching properly.

Then some kind of cardio/weights perhaps - cross trainers, gym classes, running ....

I wouldnt say hammering just an exercise bike was an ideal situation - it only works a few muscle groups.

Yoga is a brilliant, and quite challenging exercise - most people get ALOT out of it.

    Re: Exercises

If you want to increase the strength in your lower back your best off doing deadlifts, if u dont know what they are then ask someone at ur gym to show u how to do them, dont go to heavy coz u will strain urself

if you are looking to strengthen ur leg then there are a few excercises that u can do, but squats are most definately the best for building ur legs, once again dont go to heavy and ask someone at ur gym to show u how to do them properly

on top of that, keep up ur cardio work, it will keep u fit and get ur stamina up

    hope that helps you

Combination of cardio training (treadmills, cross trainer, rower) to improve stamina and muscle strength and some form of stretching exercise (either Yoga as previously mentioned or Pilates) to keep muscles and supporting ligaments supple as they are developing. Weight execises will build strength and size but that's not necessarily a good thing if you have problems with your joints.

    Good luck with it!
