in the context of this debate, i think it's fair to assume that an instinct refers to a natural reaction or something that occurs naturally, although your definition is correct?
ie you can ride a bike without thinking, your natural reaction is to balance, but you have to learn it

doesn't this just mean voice intonation? for example, a question sounds the same in pretty much every language, you can tell from the tone of voice used. This may be instinctive communication, but i still disagree that grammar and spelling are.
