    Curriculum Vitae

Anyone know any good sites that help you write a CV? I have mine and its ok but I think it needs a bit of work to give me that edge!

Any help would be appreciated :)

A lot of people spend hours/days sorting a CV out then whack it on cheap recyled paper

make sure qualifications meet the min spec for the job and that they are on the front page. this is often the first criteria used to whittle down a pile of cv's and if you hide your qualifications they probably won't go looking for them.

down put any pointless shit in either, they really don't give a shit if you were a sixer in the cubs when you were 10.

ideally no more than 2/3 pages, pref 1/2.

There's plenty sites on Google that I used about a year ago when doing my CV up.. just search 'CV hints & tips' or something..

And make sure you spell everything correctly. At my work we're after new staff and the number of CVs we've had sent in where people have made very basic grammar & spelling mistakes, it makes them look thick as fuck.

I just found this advice as well that I still have saved on my PC:

1 Don't write CV on it use your name as a header
    2 Don't exceed 2 pages
3 Start with your qualifications if you are not long out of Uni/college/school
4 Next your employment History or that should go first if you have been out of uni etc a while
5 Next your skills. Look at what employers ask for in your field. This is easy to do look at some adverts in the press. Usually: Communication skills, problem solving, analytical, time management, organisation and teamwork. Try
to provide some evidence of these ie where you develped these skills.
    6. Your additional info, whatever you think is relevant: Playing footy, Duke of Edinburgh awards scheme, Abseiling down the Post OfficeTower or snake charming whatever.
    7. References available on request.
