    Central Heating

Boring topic I know but how much do you use your central heating? There's 6 of us and we argue ALOT in our house about when to put it on and how often. I'm happy just to put a jumper on if its cold but some people just don't see it that way :argue2:

When i lived in shared accom, between 7 and 9am and between 4 and 6pm. maybe put it on later at night if it was cold but more than likely we'd be out boozing anyways :)

putting a jumper on makes sense... why heat up a whole house just cause you're a bit chilly.

I always put a jumper before putting the heating on. It pisses me off intensely when people sit in shorts and t-shirt in the middle of winter with the heating on full. Energy efficiency anyone?

My mum always tells me to put a jumper on before we put the heating on! Obviously if its an extra cold day sometimes you need to heat the house up.

    Yogi's idea sounds good :)

combi 'instant hot water' boilers are the best... my new house has the old fashioned 'immersion' style boiler... booo... saying that, heating on for an hour or so in the night gives a full tank of scorching water for the day... unless u have baths...

I think we need to heat water first. We need hot water if we want central heating on basically.

then u must have the water on timed from say 7>>9 and then a a hour or so depending on if anyone needs a bath.

I would make a rule saying NO HEATING unless artic condition qpply. Room mates can use oil filled elec heaters in their rooms SPARINGLY (these cost about 30p a hour to run).

there are too many mincers around today eps girls who run around in their knickers and a tee shirt and if they feel xold say "ooooooh the heating should be on" FUCK OFF AND GET DRESSED YOU LIMPIT

No electric shower. I'd be happy with the hot water being on in morning and evening but my house mates insist that the heating be on twice every day aswell!

One says he needs the heating on in the morning because his room gets so cold, yet all he needs to do is put on his electric heater to heat up his room while he has a warm shower.

We've not had a problem with the amount of hot water we have available so far. Our boiler is in the kitchen and is so inneficient. If you're cooking and got the oven on at the same time its unbearable in there!

We seem to have ours on loads but it's ridiculous. The only time I like the heating on in the morning is from about 5.45-7am when I'm getting up and ready for work. The rest of the time I just put a jumper/dressing gown on. :D

I have mine timed for 8.25-8.50 so its warm when i get up and get ready and then for 7-9 when ive jsut got in from work

im always cold though so tend to put an electric heater on which uses loads of electricity, but its a middle floor flat and once its hot it keeps all the warmth in and heats up from the top and bottom :)
