Boy Banned from Nursery cos hes English!!!

A BOY aged three was turned down by a council nursery school because he speaks English and his house has a GARDEN.

Christopher Townsend had been promised a free, full-time place.

But now his mum Nicki has been told he no longer qualifies under the school’s new admissions policy.

Kids from disadvantaged backgrounds, including asylum seekers, are to get priority over native English-speaking youngsters.

Outraged Nicki said yesterday: “I was told he did not fit the criteria as he had English as his first language and that he came from a home with a garden.

“I was shocked and surprised. It’s unfair that native-speaking children and parents who live locally are being penalised.” Occupational therapist Nicki, 39, has lived in the catchment area of St Werburgh’s Park Nursery School in Bristol for five years.

Christopher has been offered a part-time place but Nicki has turned it down. She says her son’s education is being jeopardised for the sake of political correctness.

And she added: “It is important that children from all cultures and backgrounds mix and go to school together.”

The nursery caters for 114 children aged three to five and prepares them for school life.


Acting head Liz Jenkins said: “We are heavily oversubscribed and use local education authority guidelines.

“We aim to help children from disadvantaged families. The policy does include factors like not having a garden and having English as an additional language but they are not the sole criteria.”

Bristol City Council said: “The decision is one for the nursery.” But another parent called Christopher’s treatment “political correctness gone mad”.

And Tory Councillor Albert Murphy vowed to urge the council to rethink its policy.

He said: “This child is being used as a pawn.”

hahaha!! nothing suprises me anymore about this country.

i bet they only serve curry at dinner time in the nursery as well, thats the case in most of london.

not supprised at all this country just keeps going more and more towards the gutter

I'd like to read the local education authority guidlines for the Bristol area, does anyone know where I could get this info?

In fact his family was OFFERED A PLACE @ THE NURSERY!!!

I would imagine a child who has grown up in a house were ENGLISH isn't the PRIMARY language needs more time & effort @ nursery level, than a child that has grown up in ENGLISH speaking household.

eh wtf, try typing slower spnce. Now from the start, what was that.

all i ever did at nursary was run around with my coat over my head pretending to be batman, not like hes missing much

i tried to hang someone, i collapsed a wendy house on some smelly boys heads cos they kidknapped my friend (she also got hurt cos she was still in when i collapsed it ) i dragged around smelly boys after tyinmg skipping ropes round their necks pretending they were my dogs....i learned how to make pretty pictures with paint, i swallowed blue paint & was sick blue milk & i also spat blue paint down my friends yellow incredible hulk t-shirt!

Makams what you like, cant take you lot anywhere.
