The artist that will be appearing on our 31st show first came to our attention some eight years ago, when he released the track "Coatnoise" on Skint Records (the label he setup) back in 2000. In the same year Damian (Harris) released the critically acclaimed album "Generalisation" encompassing styles from Soul through to Techno featuring collaborations with Linda Lewis, (a pre Mighty Boosh) Noel Fielding and Dave Clarke. From there Damian, along with the man from the House Martins, Norman Cook (aka Fatboy Slim), pioneered a large amount of the "Big Beat" revolution pushing boundaries along the way. In 2005 after 11 years of running Skint Records Damian decided to leave his full time role for the company to concentrate on his much anticipated second album. Struggling to develop the album due to being "ground down" by the music industry (a self admission) Damian decided to jump ship to shores a bit more South than ours (France). It was on the afternoon of the victorious 2012 Olympic bid (when London beat Paris) that Damian left his beloved Brighton armed with his sample bank and MIDI keyboard. It's evident that living in France clearly inspired Damian, as he now has a finished second album titled "General Disarray". Working once again with (a now more famous) Noel Fielding and furthermore the likes of Villa (from the Bumblebeez), legendary Dutch Football commentator Jack Van Gelder and Xavier De Rosnay of the mighty Justice, the album promises to be something very different but with the guile only he can deliver. It is our great pleasure to bring to you a man that has influenced us and no doubt you greatly. Leave your airhorn at home, as the original Disco Siren is here.. Please make some noise for the General, ArePeopleReal is proud to present Midfield General.
