    9/11

I can't believe it's nearly been a year since the Twin Towers disaster already! It doesn't seem like that long ago!

I still remember exactly what I was doing when I heard abt it as well. I was in the kitchen having my lunch when it came on TV. The rest of that day was just so surreal. I must have watched CNN more over the two weeks afterwards than I have ever done in all of my life before and since.

Yeah it's unreal how its close to a year! I watched that program last week on channel four told by the ex-major I think it was! It was the most upsetting program ever like - I think watching that hit me more then when it actually happened! Just because saw footage I hadn't seen, heard stuff - was just awful!

Yeah, no-one wud be stupid to try anything on exactly the same date a year later. Even if sum nutter tried anything security will be very high for abt the next week or so.

Yeah was thinking 'what if' but wouldn't think they'd be stupid enough to on same day! I'll say this though...Sep 11th was not the last of such terrible events imo!

i dont think anything will... security everywhere on the 11th will be on such a huge scale...

GeordieLee: right it was wierd, i only found out when i was sittin in a restaurant, some kiwi girl just sorta said across the table "have u heard whats happened?" I was thinkin that it musta been some more buses cancelled or a landslide on the roads we were to be travelling on...

but even when i did find out, i had no idea as to exactly how bad it was.... i mean it aint really something u could ever picture or imagine withour seeing..:(:(

and TBH, i never really realised till i saw it on tv the other day:eek:( it was like something out of a film... but real:(

i m guessing that there will be a one or two minute silence on the 11th... i think the board should pay respect, and be quiet when this happens

I was on the bus on the way back from college, and I remember some lad reading a msg out to his mates that said "Two planes have crashed into America's World Train Centre" and I though "Eh?"

When I got home my Dad told me that it was actually the World Trade Centre, etc, etc. Was straight on the news websites and stuff.

last year id just finished a morning of graphics and kid met me at break....he told me that a plane had flown into one of the twin towers. at the time i thought it was accidental, didnt assume terrorism, but i still decided to skip media, get the bus home and check it out.

i sat staring at the tele the rest of the day. crying because of what had happened and crying because i was scared sumthing simimilar was abuot to happen in britain.

i think that sumone, sumwhere will try sumthing this september 11th...but like you say, security will b so tight it will never happen.

even the 2 anchorpeople didnt know what it was..... wierd stuff like.

anyone see that prog on ch4 the other nite?..... interesting 2 see what actually went on.... but sum peeps think that the plane was shot down by the us......

*the blackbox recorder has never been released...
*and parts of wreckage were found 1-2 miles apart or sumthing..

that doesnt happen if u simply dive down and crash....

Whether that's true or not, I think people are too scared to question what happened in too greater detail bcos of the number of people who lost their lives and the overall effect it had. People don't want to be seen as disrespectful. A French man has written a book that offers an alternative version of events tho. Like I said, I for one wudn't like to put into question why so many innocent people died that day. It's not fair on them or their families.

I'm still not sure if I like the idea of people going to Ground Zero and taking photos and video either.

Fair enuff, I can understand why they want to go and look at it and pay their last respects but why do they need to take pics etc. Of course, people will be curious and everything but I just think it's a bit sick.
