There will always be a demand for quality local nights like promise, club land is going through a major reshuffle smaller nights are coming through like goodgreef, progress, etc. just like cream and MoS fell short to GK and Crasher - new clubs will emerge - hopefully Promise will be one of them :D

People are bored of the current superclubs and they're looking for new haunts. I think promise has a loyal following which continues to grow - so hopefully shouldn't be effected by the demise of superclubs... hopefully we'll grow.. I know fo a few promiseateers we've poached form crasher infact I know about 20... so who knows there maay be hope yet :D

    mmmmm....

what do ya say to something like that:confused:

I reckon from reading the reaction to GC at the NEC big nights might just kill off the scene, i think when GK came up here it was good because nothing like it had happened up here b4, too many big nights are a bad thing!

I love promise, every second of it, i love the peeps i meet the music played, everything. I REALLY dont want it to go away! But whats to stop that happening if the dance scene takes a real turn for the worse!!!

i think wot weve got here is a scene that may be goin back underground. bigger events r well known which in turn attracts a different crowd. basically the local majority . at promise weve got a bit of a hardcore followin n whereas the bigger clubs are losin their beer boy punters (this'll probably b worse wif the 24hr pub licenses) the crowds at smaller clubs will keep comin 4 more.

    thats how i c it anyways:rolleyes:

I never looked at it that way! noted.

I reckon if the whole scene did go underground, thats really not such a bad thing from the punters point of view but what about the promoters, Djs, etc

I like the way promise is at the moment. The underground feel of the club is really good and the big crowds are good every now n then but it wont suit promise i dont think.
I know that u are wanting to make the club bigger, i.e more money, but ur gettin the big djs in which is brilliant but the club could get out of control and go really commercial.

i must prefer weekly nites than one off events. For example i love going to promise every week i know i can walk in they and bump into loads of other class people who go they every week.

i love the way promise is at the moment, but i must admit i have noticed the whole club scene is nothing liek it was 2years ago when i first started going. They seems to be less people going out etc. Well i am not going to stop going clubbing no way!

Everything goes through changes its called a cycle. Ten years, twenty years even 2000 years ago music exsisted and it has changed a hell of a lot since then though technology, race , religion and age it has to change to adapt to the lifestyle of the people around them. Dance music is proggresing more everyday new sounds are being found and minipulated into to newer forms of music. Everything evolves in time even us aslong as we remember our roots it will never be forgoten.

There may have been a decline in some nights like crasher but i dont really think the scene is dying. Its just changing really, although not really for the better. As Mark said its weekly nights like Promise that really support and help the scene.

I think a club like Promise is far less likely to be affected by any changes simply because it has a hardcore of regulars who go most weeks. The big events at arenas are happening too often and this is meaning that the people who maybe go clubbing a bit less often, say every 4-6 weeks are saving up their money and just heading off to these big events. I dont think it really affects most of the people on this board though as they will go to Promise just as much AND go to some of the big events in addition.

Id much rather spend £10 on a night at Promise than £30 at an arena event thats no better, or probably not as good.

Most of thats probably already been said but i thought id put it into my words anyway. :)

I think Orbit is right in that the regular clubbers will still be going regularly, but the 'part timers' are more likely to go to the big events than their local club. Also, I think the clubs that attract mainly locals will continue to do well in general, but the bigger ones that a lot of people travel to, such as Gatecrasher, will lose out to the big events consistently (especially when they are running them themselves). I also think some clubs are pricing themselves out of the market. Most people can't afford to pay up to £15 a week to get in.

Summer is always a dodgy time for clubs as students go home and people save up for Ibiza and the big festivals.

I think the festivals are getting too big and expensive. I would prefer to go to a smaller one concentrating on the music I like. How many people actually go to all the tents at the festivals? I reckon most people only go to two, three at the most.

Yeah, and ive been to lots of clubs, but Promise has that Family feeling. I mean ive met most of the people from this board, and i must say ive not a bad thing to say about any of them, i know personally i get along with them all, and enjoy their (your) company. I think this friendly up for it feeling puts Promise in a different league. I mean how many of you students will leave to go home for the summer but then realise your missing Promise??
I bet most of you will stay the summer and get a summer job up here just for this.

Theres something special about Promise... I remember a few weeks ago we all discussed on whether we wanted Promise to grow larger like Crasher, well doesnt this post show that we would rather it not!!!!!!!! keep it like it is, dont spoil a good thing.

I much prefer the smaller nights, i used to be totally into travelling around the country to big nights, not necesarily one off events but to the clubs, i used to buy the music and Dj worship but then it got too big, i couldnt keep up with all the cd's coming out! Now i cant be bothered with the big clubs either, its too expensive and the nights are never that good. I love coming to promise cos when i do i know half the people in there! It feels like home, Crasher and Sundiss used to be like that 2/3 yrs ago, it was fun and friendly but Dance Music is too main stream now, which is fair enough cos it means more people buying the music so making more money, but it affects the atmosphere in a club because not everyones on the same level anymore.

I recon itll be a good thing for dance music to take a bit of a dive for a year to let it get back to its roots and its loyal following, get rid of the glory supporters and give it back to us :D

I hope this makes sense! :p
