How is the degree being devalued a bad thing? If we have more intelligent people in England thats a good thing!!!! It means those that truely want to shine have to work harder - which isn't a bad thing!

The industrial revolution died a long time ago and we don't need as many uneducated drones.... For once I think NL have hit the nail on the head the more people we put through uni the better... Unlike the otry governments of the past we can't rely on dockers and farmers as these are dying industries in britain rapidly being replaced by more intellectually challenging jobs.... The only way to stay one step ahead of the spider is to educate more people.

We don't need more sparkies and milk men!

Think our attitude to debt needs some serious thought though

i can see where you're coming from for many degrees, but there are a lot of areas where specialist knowledge is required, and the ability to work to a high level is required... people need to pay for certain degrees, as the country would be even worse if people didn't have the oppertunity to go to uni...

which would you rather have teaching your childen/performing your opperations/researching drugs for cures for diseases - the most able, or the only one who could afford to go to study?

I would rather pay for the nation to have armed forces that by there sheer presence ensure we are never attacked full on by another nation, than some kid from Weymouth to do a sociology degree.

there is a bit of a shortage of well trained able sparkies...

a good industry to go in if you want to earn a good living and are prepared to do hard work (which most aren't it seems)...

So your assuming your more intelligent than 70% of the population?

Your assuming 70% of the country don't realise how our country is being run?

Your claiming that the oppressive governments cripple our intelligence to stay in power?

You've been reading too many white supremacist website...

So the tories keep telling me, I've never had a problem getting a sparky though.

With the way technology is going trades like electricians are becoming less and less in demand... most products are now disposable and designed to break after a few years anyway.

In the golden olden tory days if your washing machine broke you'd have it fixed - nowadays you just buy a new one...

nope in an ideal utopia we would generate so much waste and absoloutly useless products... But we don't live in a utopia and I'd rather reap the rewards of an astute capitalist state than the hard times of a dated inefficient capitalist state.

what part of our society is tho?

you get people compaining that wind turbines "ruin the look of the natural landscape" when if we don't start looking at renewable sources of energy then there won't be much of a natural landscape to look at anyways...
